Our Rector...

Rick SandersThe Rev. Dr. Richard Evan Sanders (Rick) is the twentieth rector of this church, founded at Fort Augusta in 1750.

Rev. Sanders came to Saint Paul's from St. George's, Nashville, where he was Associate Rector from 1992. While at St George's, Rev. Sanders was particularly involved in the St. George's School, ministry to families, and outreach. His first Sunday at Saint Paul's was January 13, 2002.

Rev. Sanders is a native of Union City, Tennessee, spending the majority of his childhood in Virginia. He previously served the Episcopal Church in the Mississippi towns of Leland, Hollandale, and Meridian. He received his Bachelor of Science in 1979 from Centenary College of Louisiana and was ordained priest in 1986, after receiving his Masters in Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary. In 1999, Rev. Sanders earned a Doctor of Ministry degree in Congregational Development from Seabury Institute.

Rev. Sanders is married to Margaret Sanders (Peggy), a physician in internal medicine. They have three children: a daughter Sydney, a son Henry, and a daughter Evan.
