The Director of Parish Ministries principal function is to develop and support parish ministries by cultivating excellent working relationships with parishioners and supporting their work in the life of the parish, with special focus and effort dedicated to youth, children, and their families. The Director reports directly to the Parish Administrator and will closely coordinate with the clergy. Saint Paul’s is a growing downtown parish that is striving to develop programs and structures that support the community life and flourishing ministries. The congregation is increasingly diverse along social and political lines, yet continues to skew toward an aging demographic.

Key responsibilities and focus split between two areas of ministry:

1) Youth Ministry: 40% time and energy focused as Youth Minister and oversight of Children’s Ministries:

• Plan, implement, and manage youth programing with attention for youth , children, and families including regular monthly small groups, seasonal retreats/events, and service events

• Oversight of Parish Nursery and scheduling of childcare for parish events

• Share with clergy in pastoral care of youth, children, and their families

• Work with the Associate Rector to develop and implement a long range vision for holistic Christian formation for children/teens.

• Serve as primary contact for ALL relevant diocesan programs

• Build and maintain connections with convocational groups and other local youth and children program leaders

2) Parish Ministry: 60% time and energy spent developing and supporting parish ministries and events:

• Invest in relationships and building trust with parish membership

• Facilitate and manage communications between parishioners for various ministries (committees) and events

• Exercise oversight and development of newcomer welcoming and incorporation, parish social life, outreach, and special events

• Recruit and connect parishioners with ministries according to their interests and gifts.

• Participate wholeheartedly in the full life of the church, ensuring that appropriate care for details and people are upheld at all ministries and events

• Equip and support parishioners in leadership positions across multiple church programs and events, collaborating effectively with clergy, staff, and committee chairs

• Communicate parish event details and requirements with Director of Communications and Parish Administrator

• Work with the Outreach Committee to identify and lead opportunities for members of all ages to participate in service in the local community

• Serve as primary contact for diocesan programs
